Franks 'N' Dawgs Hoping to Eventually Move, Remains Open For Time Being

Despite rewards program email, gourmet hot dog shop on Clybourn remains open.

When Alexander Brunacci put his gourmet hot dog shop Franks 'N' Dawgs up for sale last August, his goal was eventually to move it to a larger new location in the West Loop. But despite an email sent Thursday morning by its reward program Spring Rewards, a sale hasn't gone through yet and the original Clybourn location remains open for now.

"Franks 'N' Dawgs is open," Brunacci says. "We're selling the Clybourn assets in order to move but I don't know when that is."

The Spring Rewards email, sent through Franks 'N' Dawgs general email address this morning, reads: "We regret to inform you that we will be temporarily closing our doors. Sadly, this means our Rewards Program will be coming to an end."

Brunacci says he told the rewards program that "we would be canceling the program and one of the reasons given was the impending closure of the Clybourn locale. They sent out a generic email."

Following the closure of Hot Doug's last fall, Franks 'N' Dawgs, with its "5-star dining on a bun" tagline, stands tall as perhaps the best option for gourmet dogs left in Chicago. And according to its owner, it may move west sometime soon, but until a sale goes through it will be business as usual at the existing Clybourn location.
