WRIGLEYVILLE/EDGEWATER—The immense Flaco's Tacos Wrigleyville (3550 N. Clark) is no more, as ownership shuttered the bi-level taco, beer and margarita spot on January 30. Rumors of a new tenant in the former Wild Hare space are flying but are unconfirmed at this point. Stay tuned.
But as one Flaco's closes, another is coming soon as owner Edmund Hebson says he's opening a combo of a Flaco's Tacos and a paleteria ice cream shop in the fall under the Granville Red Line stop in Edgewater. The first two Flaco's, in the South Loop and Streeterville, remain open. [EaterWire]
RAVENSWOOD—Neighborhood cafe and coffee favorite Ch'ava Cafe at 4656 N. Clark also shuttered at the end of January. In a long, passionate, philosophical Facebook note, ownership wrote that "we pursue something that cannot be caught, yet we pursue nonetheless," and "we are offended at how someone treats 2 oz of liquid," and thanked staff, customers, and the local coffee community. LAKEVIEW—A prominent Gino's East shuttered on the corner of Lincoln, Diversey, and Southport Racine on Saturday. An ADA lawsuit is the cause, according to Southport Corridor. [Southport Corridor]
