RIVER NORTH— Carbohydrates are the enemy at Carb Free Cafe, which set up shop inside the Merchandise Mart. It's the brainchild of Robin Miller, host of Food Network's "Quick Fix Meals," and they're serving wraps, sandwiches and pastas, all without carbs. SCHAUMBURG— Woodfield Mall gets another sit-down spot thanks to Kinfork. Find small and large plates to satisfy that hunger built up while walking around the shopping center. Status: Opening Monday, Dec. 14

MORGAN PARK— Home of the Hoagy has settled into the space that neighbored their spot that burned down earlier this year. Those precious steak sweets are back on the South Side. Status: Certified open, 1316 W. 111th St.
LOGAN SQUARE— A new Southeast Asian spot soft opened last week in Logan Square. Serai is offering customers 15-percent off items this Tuesday through Thursday. They serve Thai food, like pad Thai, but also dishes from Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Status: Soft open with limited hours, 2169 N. Milwaukee Ave.
