When Forever Yogurt founder and CEO Mandy Calara opened up his first Bee & Tea in June 2014, he had visions of rapid expansion, serving Asian-style baos and boba teas to the masses. It's unclear if expansion is still planned, as that first Bee & Tea in Wicker Park has been closed for about a week. A sign outside the North Avenue location confirmed the shutter, saying the cafe would eventually open at a nearby location. The shutter was first reported by DNAinfo.
The chain lists two locations on its website, including one in DePaul at 818 W. Fullerton Ave. that opened earlier in 2015. The store is closed for holiday break through Sunday, although a sign at the store showed that owners originally planned to open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The other spot, in Morgan Hill, Calif., appears open.
Three other spots, including a Naperville and Madison, Wis. location, are listed as coming soon. DNAinfo was unable to reach Calara. Check back for any updates.
