Cheesie's Pub & Grub owners didn't lie when they said they'd be open before New Year's Day. Ownership just announced the long-awaited Wicker Park location of the grilled cheese-focused restaurant will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday—New Year's Eve. There's still no word when Chris Johnston's neighboring 80s-themed bar, Whiskey Business will open, both at 1365-67 N. Milwaukee Ave.

This is Cheesie's third location, joining the Lakeview original that opened four years ago, and a second in Evanston. Cheesie's revealed the opening via Twitter, and Johnston confirmed, saying they just received their liquor license this afternoon. This could provide procrastinators with a lifeline, giving them another place to ring in the New Year until 4 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Have a Happy New Year, and come back next week when hopefully there will be more details on Whiskey Business.
