A new restaurant focusing on Thai street food should soon open from the co-owner of Spoon Thai on Western Avenue. Immm Rice & Beyond aims to serve harder to find dishes, some prepared as kao rad gaeng, a food style of prepared steamed rice dishes mixed with up to three entrees. They'll open inside the former Thai Avenue at 4949 N. Broadway St. in Uptown, near the throng of Vietnamese spots on Argyle Street.

Other dishes like palo (five-spiced stew with egg, tofu with pork or chicken) will also be available, as well as American favorites like pad Thai. A restaurant rep added that they'll also feature som tum (papaya salad).

Their website isn't online yet, so the opening may come a bit later than anticipated. Stay tuned for more details about this unique Thai venture for Chicagoans.
