Middle Eastern Bakery & Grocery, the popular Andersonville spot at Clark and Foster, will soon open a 40-seat fast-casual restaurant inside a portion of their existing space. Ownership wants to offer customers an expanded menu, going beyond baked mainstays such as artichoke and cheese pies. The bakery/retail space been open since 1981, serving brick-oven pitas and breads. Edgeville Buzz has all the details on the restaurant.
The restaurant's entrance will stand at the northwest corner of the intersection. They'll still sell groceries in the reconfigured space. Owners told the Buzz that the expansion will help their catering business. Looks like ownership is waiting for baking equipment to arrive so there's no opening date yet, but check back later for any news.
