The owners of Frank Meats Patty (Fatso's Last Stand, Lockdown Bar & Grill), in the former home of the legendary sausage temple Hot Doug's, have placed the business on the sales block after opening little more than ten months ago. @Properties is listing the business for $99,900 and owner David Jacobs says that they will remain open "contingent on a sale."
The reason for selling the restaurant less than a year after opening? "The short version of the story is that family and my other businesses took too much of my time and we lost some key people this year," Jacobs states in an e-mail. He praised the neighborhood and feels that "with more effort we know we would have been very successful," but that attention needed to be moved to the group's other projects.
Jacobs also denied that he and his business partners were working on a rumored project in the former Hot Diggity Dog space at 947 W. Wellington ("that is not related to us at all").
Doug Sohn operated Hot Doug's in the same location for 11 years. Keep an eye out for what the next owners have in store for the space.
