Kokopelli Swiftly Turning Into Bi Bim Asian Eatery In Wicker Park

Staff hiring ads for the new restaurant lead to Rodelio Aglibot's Intrestco Group.

That was fast. Mere days after Kokopelli announced its shutter with a voicemail message on its phone line saying the restaurant "sucks ass," a new restaurant is nearly ready to open in its wake. Signage has sprung up for Bi Bim Asian Eatery outside the former Mexican spot at 1324 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park, and new Asian-inspired furniture and decor already fills the interior.

According to multiple advertisements seeking to hire nearly all staff positions, the restaurant is from Intrestco—the group helmed by superchef Rodelio Aglibot—which runs E+O in Mount Prospect (and another recently-opened in Cincinnati), the defunct Yum Cha Dim Sum Parlor, and Reverie in River North. Intrestco partners did not return messages before press time.

Workers on Sunday evening were prepping the space for an opening that appears imminent. Stay tuned.
