Gunning for an opening next month, Elmwood Park native Jeff Mauro has unveiled the menu for Pork & Mindy's. The Food Network star is taking over the former Red Hen Bread space on Milwaukee Avenue.
The offerings from the "Sandwich King" center on pork, as the name suggests. There's a Chinese-style Bao to the Pork, as well as the Pig Candy BLT with Mauro's famous candied bacon. There's also lamb, mulberry-smoked pulled chicken and hickory smoked chuck roast for sandwiches. Desserts include the Memphis Porknado (vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, candied pecans, salted caramel, chocolate sauce and pig candy).
For those unfamiliar, the name is a play on "Mork & Mindy," the TV show that ran from 1978 to 1982 starring the late Robin Williams. Check out the full menu below. Pork & Mindy's is scheduled to open in mid-December at 1623 N. Milwaukee Ave.
