Nick Spencer wasted little time re-opening with a new concept inside the home of Spencer's Jolly Posh Foods, the British restaurant and grocery store that closed Nov. 1. Spencer has rechristened the space as Vivial, which severs the British ties —other than Spencer— and positions itself as focusing on fine comfort food and cocktails. The neighborhood restaurant debuted Sunday night, according to Chicago magazine.
Vivial features Aviary veteran Garrett Christiansen as chef and cocktails by Kelsey Edington. The space itself boasts an intimate 24 seats for diners and 13 seats at the bar. Reservations are being handled by Nick Kokonas' Tock. Guests can choose from the a la carte menu (which includes roast chicken, beer and cheese soup and mushroom polenta) or purchase a five-course menu curated by chef Christiansen. You can view the full dinner and bar menus below. Brunch service begins this Saturday, Nov. 28.
Vivial, 3755 N. Southport Ave., (773) 312-3755, open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
