SCHAUMBURG—Head north of the border to check out ShopHouse Southeast Asia Kitchen by Chipotle before the city location opens in December in the Loop. The Schaumburg location is now open and serving Chipotle-style casual Asian food. Status: Certified open, 1022 N. Meacham Road, Schaumburg.
THE LOOP—Paul McGee and company unveiled the final hospitality piece of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel this week, opening the tiny rare spirit-driven Milk Room on Monday. The eight-seat spot, located on the second floor before reaching the Game Room, serves extremely rare and sometimes very old liquors until each bottle runs out and fills six of its seats via Tock. EVANSTON—The former Quince space in the Homestead Hotel officially has a new restaurant, as Hearth, from chef John "Woody" Linton, opened for business on Tuesday. Expect a variety of chef-driven food, sometimes of the comfort variety and many with global influences, under the "contemporary American" umbrella. Status: Certified open, 1625 Hinman Ave., Evanston.
MAGNIFICENT MILE—Amorino soft opens in Water Tower Place today, serving Parisian gelato in the former Crumbs kiosk inside the Michigan Avenue urban mall. Status: Opening today, 835 N. Michigan Ave., second floor.
NORTHBROOK—Casual Mediterranean chain Roti opened its second location in the North Shore suburb, this one under the new name Roti Modern Mediterranean. The restaurant at 798 Skokie Boulevard serves many new menu items, including lamb meatballs and red lentil soup, as well as self-service beverages and beer and wine. Status: Certified open, 798 Skokie Boulevard, Northbrook.
