Ex-Topolobampo Chefs Reveal Dos Urban Cantina: Opening Nov. 17 In Logan Square

Brian Enyart and Jennifer Jones' first restaurant is a "personal expression" of Mexican food on Armitage.

Longtime Rick Bayless proteges Brian Enyart and Jennifer Jones' first restaurant is almost here. Dos Urban Cantina will make its debut on Nov. 17, when Enyart and Jones' "personal expression" of Mexican cuisine becomes the latest dining addition to the burgeoning Armitage Avenue strip in Logan Square.

Enyart and Jones, along with partners Michael Rotolo and Erika Martinez Rotolo, turned the former Katakana Sushi Bar on 2829 W. Armitage into a warm and chic space inspired by the Mexican touchstones they picked up from their travels south of the border. A variety of brown table and booth seating fills the 75-seat exposed-brick dining room, while a green-tiled, backlit, sectioned bar wraps around to an open kitchen and holds 35 people. An interesting design element is a wall of framed milagros (Mexican religious charms) that friends and family donated to the restaurant.

Take a good look at the photo tour above. If the Dos Urban Cantina team's years of experience at some of Chicago's best restaurants is any indication, you may be seeing a lot of it in the coming months and years.
