It took a little longer than anticipated, but Logan Square finally gets that new late-night Italian spot promised earlier this year. Ugo's Kitchen and Bar soft opens today in the former Mitad Del Mundo space where they'll serve up Italian-American fare.

Ugo's hosts friends and family today, as the grand opening is at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The restaurant will stay open until 2 a.m., and so will the kitchen. A late-night kitchen provides a major draw for chef/owner Stephen Hasson, whose staff will serve housemade pepperoni and mozzarella on individually-sized pizzas.

There's a simple menu with an assortment of charcuterie and focaccia. There's also a section devoted to all things fried: Mozzarella, eggplant, bread and even crackling. Pizza-wise, the maitake is of note. It's a pie with kale, maitake mushrooms, parmesan and spicy-pickled cherry bomb peppers.

Check out the full menu below.

Ugo's Kitchen and Bar, 2833 W. Armitage Ave., (773) 698-8984, open 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday-Monday. Closed on Tuesday.
