The bar's been sold, but no word on what will pop up in its place.

Hubbard Street sports bar Vinyl has closed after a little more than two years in River North. Owner Nick Tsouklas confirmed that his group — which also owns Bellwether in Streeterville — sold the bar. He failed to specify to whom or what the future holds for the space.

Vinyl opened in the Red Violet space in summer 2013. Tsouklas and his brother George also earlier this year announced plans to open a barbecue joint in the South Loop called Belly Up. It's supposed to open next summer and there haven't been updates on that plan.

Stay tuned on what the future will hold for the spot, as its prominent River North location could be conducive to a big project.
