Home of the Hoagy had served the Morgan Park community for 46 years, serving sandwiches such as the popular steak sweet, a South Side take on a steak sandwich on a Gonella bun with coarsely-chopped steak and peppers. But in September, a fire forced the restaurant to shutter, leaving the area without the nearly five-decade-old staple. But there's hope, as Home of the Hoagy's management announced they'd found a new location, directly next door to the spot that burned down.

Coming soon Home Of The HoagyRight next door !!!!Look at God !!!!!!!

The restaurant's Facebook page erupted with joyous messages, with more than 1,000 "likes" in three hours. The new spot appears to be a much-needed larger location compared to the bi-level space that burned down on Sept. 11. Check back for when this beloved Morgan Park restaurant announces an opening date, so customers can once more have their steak sweets and fries with sauce, a South Side tradition since 1969.
