Chicago's been taken over by fast-casual spots, and barbecue isn't any exception. Blackwood BBQ is poised to continue to capitalize on the popularity of smoked meats. Blackwood reportedly has plans for two new spots: One near Wrigley Field and the other inside the Illinois Center in The Loop.
That would give Blackwood, a fast-casual concept where customers order smoked brisket pork at counter, four locations. The second Loop location replaces a Great Steak & Potato at 233 N. Michigan Ave., Crain's reported. They're also taking over the former Einstein Bros. Bagel at the corner of Belmont and Sheffield avenues, DNAinfo noted. The Loop spot is set for a spring open, while DNAinfo reports the Lakeview spot will open in a few months. The first Blackwood opened in 2013 in the Loop. Reps from the restaurant couldn't be reached.
