Businesspeople, tourists and Loop residents will get a massive wonderland of Latin food and drink in seventeen days. Latinicity, celebrity chef Richard Sandoval's 20,000 square-foot food extravaganza, complete with 12 food and drink halls, a full tapas restaurant named Tapaneria, a cafe, wine bar, and retail market, will open to the public on November 5 on the third floor of the Block 37 shops on State Street.
In the works for nearly two years, Latinicity is larger and more ambitious than any of Sandoval's thirty-five restaurants around the world. Another celebrity chef, Jose Garces, is now also involved in Latinicity. The whole affair was inspired by Eataly, and indeed is somewhat of a Latin version of the Italian food hall that exists in many cities, including Chicago. Stay tuned for more before its opening.
