Drawing Room Owner Also Shutters Bow & Stern Oyster Bar in West Town

Oyster and cocktail spot closes down after a year in business.

No more oyster shucking will happen at Bow & Stern. The oyster, seafood and cocktail spot, opened in December 2013 in the former Branch 27 space on Chicago Avenue, closed for good on New Year's Eve.

Owner Jay Runnfeldt did not respond to requests but confirmed the shutter through his former publicist today. A note has since gone up on the website, stating "as of December 31, 2014 we are closed for business. Thank you for your patronage!"

It's been a trying holiday season for Runnfeldt, who also shuttered The Drawing Room and The Back Room on New Year's Eve on Rush Street.

Runnfeldt took over the former home of longtime neighborhood eatery Branch 27 after it shuttered in August 2013. He recruited former The Savoy chef Brian Greene to execute his shellfish-centric concept, before opening on December 19.

Nearly a year later to the day, Bow & Stern is no more. There's no word yet what will come to the space.
