Bascule Wine Bar Morphs Urban Union Into a Bridge-Themed Bistro

See all of the new wine bar and restaurant in the former Urban Union space.

It's time for wine on Taylor Street, as the highly-anticipated Bascule Wine Bar officially opened on Saturday. Co-owners and acclaimed sommeliers Jason Prah and Scott Harney applied cosmetic changes to the former Urban Union space, which you can take a look at now if you didn't visit in person over the weekend.

True to its bridge-themed name, the decor at Bascule includes many nods to bridges and wine. Rustic woods and exposed brick are the wall elements of choice. There's a bar, two-top tables and a communal table backed by an open kitchen in the front room, while a back dining room is accessible through either a blue-lit hallway or a small room holding a more private king table.

Bascule was open on Saturday and Sunday for the first time as BYO, is closed Monday and Tuesday, and will reopen on Wednesday. Ownership hopes to have its liquor license on Friday; read the food menu here.
