Pinstripes, a massive (33,000 sq. ft.) Italian restaurant concept that also features bowling and bocce, is opening Saturday in the former River East Art Center space. This will mark the seventh Pinstripes location overall and the fourth in Illinois (the others are in Northbrook, South Barrington and Oak Brook).
In addition to the restaurant, the huge space will also feature 11 bowling lanes (with two private lanes), seven bocce courts (5 indoor, 2 outdoor), an outdoor patio, a fireplace and banquet rooms. There will also be saxophone music on the weekends as well as Sunday brunch.
The kitchen, headed up by chef Cesar Gutierrez, is putting out a menu that won't be hard for the casual eater to navigate. Gutierrez's menu has easily identifiable dishes such as fried calamari, margherita pizza, Caesar salad, cheeseburger, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan. He does throw in something a little more challenging with the gnocchi and ahi tuna with a Calabrese vinaigrette, however.
The beverage menu features a number of American and Italian wines, along with a select cocktail and beer menu, including Solemn Oath's Butterfly Flash Mob, which will be exclusive to the Chicago location. See below for the full lunch, dinner and beverage menus.
