All Aboard Dive Bar, Boystown's New Seafaring Odyssey on Halsted

Soft opening tonight, the new bar and eatery has a multitude of sailor-themed rooms, design elements, and libations.

Welcome inside Dive Bar, a boat-themed fantasyland in Boystown where barrels double as a host stand and bathrooms are inside a freight shipping container. Soft-opening tonight and fully opening on Feb. 1, the folks behind Minibar and Meat are adding their latest themed concept to their growing portfolio.

Meant to evoke a seafaring journey, the four areas in the 50-seat space are fittingly named. "The Dock" (first area with distressed wood, high-top tables, $4 cocktails and late hours) leads to "The Galley" (200-bottle rum bar and two-top tables), with "The Captain's Quarters" (private party room) in the rear. "The Wharf" (outdoor patio) will open in warmer months.

True to the concept, although the full menu is unavailable at press time, ownership says the food and drink focuses on seafood, rum, and tropical and frozen cocktails and previously mentioned surf and turf dishes in small and large plates, including Buffalo blue cheese fried oysters and parmesan and baby shrimp-crusted yellowtail snapper. The seafaring journey begins today at 5 p.m.
