Starting on New Year's Day, Rockit Bar & Grill is temporarily closed for renovations.

Billy Dec and Rockit Ranch Productions plan on reopening the space in the spring. They're also revamping the menu, promising a new beverage program with new cocktails, craft beer and wine to pair with the food from executive chef/partner Amanda Downing and food & beverage director chef Kevin Hickey. Management is installing a new draft system with 22 taps. Meanwhile, the reopening will come 11 years after Rockit first opened in River North.

The new interiors will include a 50-foot bar with a space designed by Kara Mann, whose work also includes the Boltwood in Evanston. Rockit has also hired Michael Taxy (formerly of the shuttered Drawing Room) as its new general manager.
