The Betty, the new spot from Footman Hospitality next door to The Publican (in the former Lumen space), is set to open next Wednesday. With Rachel Dow heading up the kitchen and veteran cocktailer Peter Vestinos running the beverage program, the stage is set for The Betty to become a new hotspot to throw back a drink and nibble on some grub.
The space's name and interior design strike a feeling of yesteryear. They will play music on vinyl records and there are vintage items on display throughout. The intended desire is for guests to relax and enjoy themselves with a handcrafted cocktail (there's also plenty of wine, beer and spirits on hand) and some of the refined food Dow has put on the menu.
Dow's menu will comprise of small bites and shared plates that promise big flavors. The menu, which you can view in full below, is reasonably priced, with only one item priced above $20 (a plate of clams with shrimp, fennel, uni butter and sourdough tops out at $23). There's also red fish, sweetbreads, veal sausage, fried cauliflower and croquettes of chicken confit and ham.
Though few in number, Dow features a few desserts as well, including a spice cake, a pie ice cream sandwich and an assortment plate, the items of which can be ordered separately.
See for yourself how The Betty turned out when it opens Wednesday, January 21.
