LINCOLN SQUARE— Pickles and barbecue naturally go together, and that's what makes The Budlong Pickleshop, a new project from the owners of Rub's Backcountry Smokehouse, intriguing. They won't just serve pickles; fried chicken and pork chops are on the menu. The exact address isn't known, but it should open in the fall inside a 3,000-square-foot shop near the Western and Foster intersection. The popular Rub's has dished out barbecue for years in Rogers Park. [DNAinfo]
LINCOLN SQUARE— Luella's Southern Kitchen is slated for a Feb. 3 opening at 4609 N. Lincoln Ave. Helmed by Darnell Reed, who cooked at the Conrad Hotel, expect dishes like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and others. It's in the former Mediterranean Grill space. [Chicago Magazine]
LINCOLN PARK— A new project from the owner of German bar Prost! could soon find it's way down Lincoln Avenue. The city has received a liquor license application for Millie's Supper Club, with Brian Reynolds (the owner of Prost! at 2566 N. Lincoln Ave.) listed as the contact. Millie's address is down the block at 2438 N. Lincoln Ave., the former Soiree bar. Eater has reached out to Reynolds for more information. [EaterWire]
AVONDALE— The Avondale Coffee and Grill applied for a liquor license for a spot at 3634 W. Belmont Ave. Tomasz Marek Predki and Wieslaw Polak are named as the project's owners. It was once the Jagiellonia dive bar. [EaterWire]
