FRENCH MARKET/DOWNTOWN—Some major changes are afoot at the Lavazza coffee shops around town, including one shutter. The French Market location is no more and the 162 E. Ohio St. and 111 W. Jackson St. locations have been sold to new ownership. The 27 W. Washington St. location remains open. [Crains]

HUMBOLDT PARK—Joey's Shrimp House, the whimsical sailor-themed house of fried seafood on Western, is shuttered and paper now covers the windows. Japonais vets opened the restaurant in June 2010. [EaterWire] [UPDATE: Joey's Shrimp House is back open.]

DEPAUL—Fuel Station coffee shop on Clark just north of Fullerton closed for good, yet a sign on the door proclaims that "a new and exciting concept will open soon." The java purveyor and eatery opened in a former Caribou Coffee space in August 2013. [Facebook]
