Tavern on Little Fort Opens Tonight in North Center

North Center residents will have a new spot to watch Bears games this upcoming season as Tavern on Little Fort opens tonight. The sports bar takes over the space formerly occupied by Glunz Bavarian Haus and is from the team behind Commonwealth Tavern.

Aesthetically, the place feels like a "fort with flat screen TVs and a bar," and is built from reclaimed materials from defunct Barat College according to owner Matt Baldino.

The menu will be focused on sandwiches as well other football-friendly foods. Look for weekend brunch to be added in the future once things get settled. The bar will also be a haven for Iowa Hawkeyes fans and host game day parties every weekend, so expect to see plenty of black and gold.

Hours of operation will run as late as 3 a.m. on Saturdays, and until 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday.
