Five Months In, Camba's Laughing Bird Sold and Shuttered

Look for Chrissy Camba's forthcoming Maddy's Dumpling House soon.

Here's an interesting development at the Lincoln Square Filipino-American restaurant Laughing Bird. Chrissy Camba's reconcept of Tank Sushi in Lincoln Square closed for good following service on Saturday after less than five months in business, earning a rare distinction of shuttering while still on the Eater Chicago heatmap.

First announced via a Facebook post yesterday, ownership received a "generous offer" for the restaurant and promptly unloaded it. There's no word yet on who bought it or what's coming there next, but Camba, the former "Top Chef" contestant and Bar Pastoral chef, is already working on her next concept.

Camba sent word via email that she's looking at spaces in order to "open up a casual spot with counter service called Maddy's Dumpling House." Stay tuned for popup previews where she'll cook "a variety of dumplings, more substantial dishes, (and) wine and tea service." More on that soon.

Meanwhile, if you blinked over the last five months, you missed Camba's ode to her Filipino roots and grandmother Lola at Laughing Bird that received mixed reviews.
