Now open, the 40-odd-seat interior is made up of long metal counters with bolted stools below, and with wood-panelled walls decorated with photos of classic Chicago scenes and artwork, including some from neighborhood icon Tony Fitzpatrick. A 1950's-era jukebox spins 45s of Chicago soul and blues records of the day.
Chef de cuisine Dennis Bernard's menu, which you can read in full below, features eight "plates" ($11-15) such as chicken fried chicken, ham & cheese torta ahogada, and takes on tamales, enchiladas and chile rellenos.
