Pierogi Wagon Humboldt Storefront; Perkolator Perks Up Portage Park; More

Four new openings include a cult-favorite food truck's venture to a brick-and-mortar space

HUMBOLDT PARK—Tomorrow's the day when Damian Warzecha's (Pierogi Wagon) Polak Eatery hits a brick-and-mortar location running. The small BYOB fast casual restaurant is open from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM daily will feature rustic cuisine with a modern spin and will eventually open for prix fixe dinners. [EaterWire]

PORTAGE PARK—Coffee is on in Portage Park with the opening earlier this week of Perkolator Coffeehouse. The new spot received a windfall of supplies and equipment courtesy of the owners of nearby Knockbox Café which recently closed. Perkolater is open seven days a week, opening at 6:00 AM weekdays and 7:00 AM on the weekend. [DNAinfo]

LOOP—Chicago has seen the return of a Gloria Jean's to the Loop area, which recently opened near the Art Institute. The Australian-owned company is hoping to expand considerably in the Midwest. [Crain's]

EDGEWATER—Barrelman Tavern is due to be open this weekend, according to Urban Daddy. Expect 16 taps, a plethora of whiskey, and plenty of sports. Their Facebook page indicated their hope to be open last night, but no official word has been released as of yet. [Urban Daddy]
