Our fair city is receiving some impressive shout outs from two national magazines, highlighted by GQ calling Chicago the "greatest drinking city in America." Dedicating a lengthy slideshow to its assessment, GQ documents everything from old bars (Maria's Packaged Goods), to the establishments that set the stage for the current bar revival (The Violet Hour), to where you can crash after a long night of drinking (Longman & Eagle), even taking time to highlight the late night drinker's savior: the tamale guy.
Meanwhile, Food & Wine has created a The People's Best New Bars list and six Chicago watering holes are Midwest nominees. Analogue, Billy Sunday, Celeste, Sportsman's Club, The Berkshire Room, and Three Dots and a Dash are up for voting, which is open now until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30. Celebrate Chicago by voting now and voting often.
