Phil Vettel is clearly a fan of the new Spiaggia, as the Tribune critic dropped a four-star review on Tony Mantuano's "refreshed" Italian icon. From the decor to chef Chris Marchino's dishes to the desserts to the layout, Vettel writes "I love it," "I was happy with Spiaggia almost as soon as I sat down," and finishes with "I'm Phil Vettel, and I approve this restaurant."

On the food, the critic describes the dishes following the amuse as "a parade of excellence." He's particularly happy with the "contemporary and indulgent" wood-grilled scallops, the "sensational" guinea hen with blue crab meat that has "gentle flavors combining to make a powerful whole," and the "nimbly executed" mini-desserts that are "are on a higher order of complexity."

Vettel even gushes over the service, of which the wine service is "particularly impressive." It's quite the start for the re-done Chicago classic.
