Big Onion Rolls Into Former Snuggery Space With Hopsmith Tavern

The restaurant group behind Woodie's Flat in Old Town and Fatpour Tap Works in Wicker Park have designs on a new establishment for the Rush and Division street crowd.

The Big Onion Tavern Group confirmed plans to open the Hopsmith Tavern at 15 W. Division St., the site of the shuttered Snuggery Sports Pub & Eatery. The Snuggery, which closed in April, sits blocks away from the Viagra Triangle and was known in previous incarnations as Finn McCool's and the Alumni Club. The group is hoping to open in October.

Ala Carte Entertainment ran the establishment before closing the sale in February. They continue to operate three suburban Snuggery locations.
