Opening tomorrow, the apex of eighties nostalgia fills the sprawling River North expansion of Heaquarters Beercade. A wonderland of repurposed and reclaimed materials awaits: phone booths hold POS systems and liquor bottles, a wall of cassette tapes covers three walls of a nook, microphones are now tap handles, and pages from Shel Silverstein books line the walls of a staircase. And, of course, there are many video games and pinball machines.
The two-floor, three-bar space, a former nightclub, is larger and more open than the original Headquarters incarnation in Lakeview, with much more seating to sit down with a drink or food—this one has a full kitchen. The full menu won't be available until next Thursday, however, but you can step inside, play games, drink craft beer and whimsical cocktails, try some of the food options, bask in nostalgia and indulge your inner child beginning tomorrow.
