The Peasantry Shutters Temporarily and Franks 'N' Dawgs Is For Sale

Changes are afoot at both of Alexander Brunacci's acclaimed street food restaurants. The Peasantry on Clark Street closed (temporarily) a few weeks ago, leaving a sign on the door and a note on the Facebook page announcing the hiring of a new chef de cuisine. They're not naming who it is, however, only stating the person is an "Alinea alumni" and that they're planning to reopen in late August or early September.

Meanwhile, a bit south in the Clybourn corridor, former Eater 38 inclusion Franks 'N' Dawgs is for sale. A listing on real estate site LoopNet marks the outstanding gourmet hot dog stand's price at $95,000. The restaurant is still open.

There's no word yet on what happened to chef Joe Doren (who is still listed as chef de cuisine on The Peasantry's website), who the new chef is at The Peasantry, or the status of a potential sale of Franks N Dawgs. Eater has reached out to both restaurants for comment—stay tuned.
[UPDATE: Chef Joe Doren got in touch to say that he left The Peasantry and Franks 'N' Dawgs "about a year ago" and is now a partner in the Haute Sausage food truck and storefront. Robert Hoffman (City Tavern) was The Peasantry chef in the interim. More to come.]
