Is Pane Caldo Finally Returning to the Gold Coast?

When Italian standby Pane Caldo on Walton shuttered in June 2012, Antoine Cedicci's restaurant posted that it was "relocating soon, in the Gold Coast." It now seems that is finally happening—or at least another Italian restaurant from Cedicci is coming.

An awning on an under-construction restaurant at 111 E. Chestnut now bears the Pane Caldo name. City documents for a liquor license application, a food inspection for licensing, and a business license are all under the DBA name "Fiesole Restaurant," which is owned by "Eleven One C LLC," whose owner is Antoine Cedicci. A front desk attendant at the condo complex that shares its building says the restaurant is in fact Pane Caldo, and that it "was supposed to open last year."

The restaurant passed the licensing inspection, so it should be opening soon. Eater has reached out to Cedicci, who also opened Trattoria Ultimo on Chicago Avenue in 2012 and shuttered Alimentari on Randolph last year, for more information—stay tuned.
