Sodikoff Going Japanese, Adding Sushi Bar and Bakery Aspect to Oyster Spot on Kinzie

While Brendan Sodikoff originally planned to join the oyster trend in a new spot on Kinzie Street, the uber-busy restaurateur has switched gears. Sodikoff wrote in to say that he's now planning a multi-faceted Japanese-French concept for the space on the same block as Bavette's—but there will still be oysters.

Sodikoff says that the front part of the space will house a pastry, croissant and coffee spot. The oyster bar will sit in the middle, while a 16-seat sushi bar will live in the rear. He hasn't decided on a new name yet but it won't be what he originally planned (Triton). Look for the opening in November.

Also, after wading through zoning delays with the city, Sodikoff is hoping to open his pizza spot, now named Roxie's By The Slice, in August on Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown. He adds that, following these two openings, that "it's probably it for this year." There's no word yet on the Maxim's reboot, the Doughnut Vault expansions, or his other reported projects. [UPDATE: Sodikoff says Doughnut Vault expansions are still slated to open before the end of the year.]
