Chef Kristine Subido shuttered her Filipino chicken restaurant, Pecking Order, Saturday night after more than two years in business in Uptown. Subido notified patrons and press via email and social media, and told DNAinfo that slow foot traffic and the tight kitchen were among the factors that led to the decision.
Pecking Order opened in June 2012 following Subido's departure from Wave at the W-Lakeshore hotel. The restaurant isn't completely going away, however, as it will continue to have a presence at the weekly downtown market The Nosh and the Low-Line Market below the Southport Brown Line stop. Subido is also slated to serve as executive chef at Roll Out, the forthcoming bicycle cafe and beer garden, which is supposed to open sometime this summer on Milwaukee Avenue in West Town.
