Opening to the general public on Thursday July 23, Tony Mantuano and chef John Hogan's dinner, lunch and brunch menus for River Roast, Mantuano's first non-Italian restaurant, blends the selection of simple, traditional English-style roasts you're expecting with many traditional and non-traditional items you're not expecting. Three different proteins (fish, chicken and roast beef) make up the signature tableside-carved roasts, paired with potatoes, with two items designed for sharing. The fish tops out the pricing at $42.
But the majority of the menus are made up of small plates and other dishes, including charcuterie items, fried rabbit, lobster sliders, Yorkshire pudding with chicken liver mousse, and "Chicago sashimi" with seared Wagyu; as well as oysters, sandwiches, salads, soups, snacks and sides.
For brunch, there's some traditional English items (such as a ploughman's platter) alongside rabbit and waffles, a smoked trout scramble, and others.
The restaurant, overlooking the loop from its large and prominent perch in the former Fulton's space on the north bank of the river, should be an interesting and busy hotspot for Mantuano and Hogan. Read the full menus below.
