A week ago, Eater readers began a weeklong process of deciding the best steakhouse in America's meatiest city. They narrowed 16 of Chicago's finest establishments down to a final four on Friday, but there can only be one champion. More than 7000 votes later, that champion is revealed: Rush Street icon Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse.

Gibsons won its preliminary round in a landslide and triumphed in the finals by more than 1400 votes, proving Chicagoans' love for the restaurant, something that's not lost on ecstatic managing partner John Colletti. "I'm at a loss for words for the first time in my life," Colletti says. "It's really a huge accomplishment for us. The cream rises to the top."

Now in its 25th anniversary year, Colletti sites the Gibsons prime beef program and staff for the restaurant's success in the last quarter-century. "The work we put in the USDA prime beef program worked," he says. "But you can't have great beef without great service."

The Gibsons team used its social media channels and word of mouth, as did other nominees, to promote the vote. Now that they've won, expect more specials and promotions in addition to 25th anniversary events and deals.

"We're going to plug the living daylights out of it," Colletti says.
