Mike Sula tackles the noodles at both Ramen-San and High Five Ramen, declaring that neither bests the bowls "served by two Japanese-owned chains in the suburbs." The Reader critic does, however, give a big victory to Brendan Sodikoff's latest venture, stating it "sets a new standard for tonkotsu in the city." Though he finds the non-ramen dishes at Ramen-San to be "quite good," Sula says that its namesake bowls are simply "mollycoddling the flavor-fearing folk of River North." [Reader]
