The Bluebird on Damen to Shutter Tonight

After closing Telegraph and moving Webster's Wine Bar, more big news is afoot within this ownership group. Co-owner Tom MacDonald confirms that the last night of service at The Bluebird, the Bucktown bistro, beer bar, biodynamic wine bar, and neighborhood date spot, is tonight. It opened in 2007.

MacDonald lists a confluence of circumstances for the decision. "We were approached by a buyer and the timing was right for us to simplify our lives and fully focus on the new Webster's," he says. "We're sad to see it go." He declined to reveal who that buyer is.

Chef Dave Ford is moving to Kansas City to open his own restaurant, MacDonald says, which helped spur the decision. Webster's is reopening next month in the Telegraph space, next to their other existing spot, Reno. Visit The Bluebird one last time tonight before it turns into something else.
