Texas-Based Velvet Taco Bringing Unique Tacos to the Viagra Triangle

New, 6 comments

A Texas import will be bringing some uniqueness to the crowded local taco scene soon. Velvet Taco, which has locations in Dallas and Fort Worth, has taken over a former Subway location on the ground and second floors of 1110 N. State and has commenced construction towards a fall opening.

Velvet Taco is known in the Lone Star State for its untraditional fillings, such as fish n' chips, tabbouleh, and Texas burger. They make all ingredients in-house, including tortillas, and will serve margaritas, beer and wine. The quick-service spots are also open late, meaning Viagra Triangle bar-hoppers will have a new late-night grub option.

The Texas locations are well-received, garnering Heatmap inclusion and strong reviews. How will it fare amongst the plethora of chef-driven and traditional taco options in Chicago? Stay tuned.
