Not only is mEAT and Minibar owner John Dalton opening the second mEAT location today, but he's also planning a fish fry and sushi spot on Halsted in Boystown. Originally, Dalton was working on a Creole restaurant for the former Arco De Cuchilleros and Tapas Gitana space, but changed course.
Dalton is naming it Dive Bar and says it will be a New England-style fish house. While menu specifics are still a work in progress, he says the drink options will focus on rum cocktails and craft beers. The target opening date is late October.
Meanwhile, the second mEAT location opens at 5:00 p.m. today in the former La Grande Vie space at 215 E. Chestnut. The meat skewers and molecular cocktails concept is the same as the original but the space is nearly three times larger. Read the menu here.
