After the success of its monthly dinner series, Lincoln Park breakfast and lunch mainstay 2 Sparrows will expand into full dinner service later this summer. At an undetermined date, the restaurant will close briefly to undergo interior renovations (including the addition of a bar and an area for guests to interact with the kitchen), emerging with a new dinner menu from chef Gregory Ellis.
Ellis says that the move is a natural progression for the restaurant, which turns three this year. His menu will focus on shared dishes and will draw from the small/medium/large plates school. No specific dishes are previewed, but expect house-made charcuterie, in-house pickling, handmade pastas, vegetable dishes and more. For that interactive bar, beverage director Ryne Schofstal is currently at work on a new program for evening service.
As for the interior renovations, the space will gain warmer colors to match the mood of evening hours and they will rearrange the seating add intimacy. 2 Sparrows' dinner service will run Wednesdays through Sundays, with breakfast and lunch service remaining the same. Look for more details to emerge once renovations begin.
