Michael Kornick and David Morton are almost ready to venture into the River North nightlife scene with their throwback casual bar, Henry's Swing Club. While some facets of the former Lao 18 first-floor layout remain, the feel is much different. Gone are Tony Hu's glitzy Chinese decorations, replaced by DMK's take on a ramped-up classic tavern, manifested in red-lit sticker collages, darker lighting, a long street art mural, couches and a pool table.
As previously reported, much of the concept hinges on an interesting and extensive array of booze crafted by the Violet Hour and Big Star vet Michael Rubel, old-school games, sliders, and music. It soft opens on Friday with limited hours, but until then, peek at the whole space in the photos below.
