Richard Sandoval has named two facets of his upcoming food hall inside Block 37. According to a liquor license application, the celebrity chef and restaurateur is going with Panamericanas Food Hall & Lounge and Panamericanas Express for his reentry into the Chicago restaurant scene.
As previously reported, Sandoval is planning an expansive Latin food hall for the urban mall on State Street that may rival Eataly. Expect to see as many as 11 food stations with 350 seats, a full-service restaurant and bar, a classroom and a retail space. The opening is slated for December.
Sandoval, a former guest on "Top Chef Masters," owns nearly 40 restaurants around the country and world.
[UPDATE: Sandoval's team has decided to move in a new direction with a name and are still deciding. They've also delayed the opening until April 2015.]
