Don't let the unmarked door and blue brick outside Slippery Slope fool you. Behind that door lies a rowdy dancehall wonderland, all awash in glowing sea of red.
Inspired by the Swayze classic "Roadhouse," much of Slippery Slope feels like someone dropped a backwoods party cabin into that exploding block of Logan Square. A large open dance floor centered on a DJ booth and surrounding bleachers takes up much of the first floor. Different DJs will spin different genres of "upbeat high-energy music" every night, including a queer night every Thursday.
For those that aren't dancing, there's a large rectangular bar, booths, three skee ball machines, and a photo booth. The second floor, opening at a later date, will be more relaxed. Click here for more on the food and drink.
The Scofflaw team built the 300-capacity space practically from scratch and they're "excited to show it off." They'll get that chance tonight at 8 p.m.
