Today marks the end of the road for City Tavern. The Colonial-style restaurant and bar from the people behind Chicago Firehouse is shuttering after a rocky under-two years in business on South Michigan Avenue.
Ownership provided a short statement that reads in part that "future plans for the space are undetermined at this time. Thank you for your patronage over the last two years."
City Tavern opened with chef Kendal Duque at the helm but eventually went through three more chefs (Jackie Shen, Robert Hoffman, and Amanda Barnes) and a foreclosure suit. Stay tuned to see what happens to the space.
