Tomorrow night at 8, a nightly "rowdy, sparsely lit, sultry dance party" from the people who brought you Scofflaw will erupt on that exploding Logan Square block. Slippery Slope, in between Chicago Distilling Co and the forthcoming Owen + Alchemy, will be large, loud, and "approachable, affordable, and comfortable," according to bar dude Danny Shapiro.
Shapiro's drinks will focus on 5 or 6 rotating flavors of bottled cocktails, beer, and maybe even a house wine cooler. He mentions two that will be on the opening menu: a play on a "Red Tide" (gold rum, grenadine, lime, passion fruit) that he describes as a "tiki drink in a bottle," and the "Slope Manhattan" (rye, Camparo Antica vermouth, curacao, angostura bitters).
For beer, expect everything from craft to cheap to collaboration on tap. They'll have Hamm's, a decent craft selection and their house collaboration with Dark Horse Brewing—a blueberry ale. Just one food item, a "Mother-in-Law" (vegan chili and tamale in a cup), will be served.
But the main focus of Slippery Slope won't be on the food or drink—it'll be on the raucous vibe and massive come-as-you-are dance hall. Look for it to become the nightlife destination among the many new spots on the block; a block that's becoming Logan Square's one stop shopping for fun. Stay tuned for more on the space and DJ program before the opening.
